Academic Design Research & Practice User Research

#1

A month from now, I will be at the Decipher Conference (in Ann Arbor, MI, USA) to lead a session on “UX practitioner & design researcher interaction”. Decipher is an academic design research conference, which hopes that practitioners attend to help bridge the academic/practice gap.

I did a LinkedIn post to encourage some of my practitioner colleagues to attend.

To help me prepare for the conversation that I am leading at the conference, I am interested in your experience collaborating with academic design researchers (if you are a practitioner), or the reverse if you are an academic design researcher.

I am collecting stories of academic-practitioner collaborating in the UX space in general, and would love to hear some of your stories of collaboration. Or if you have not collaborated, what are the barriers?

Let’s have a discussion here! Thanks!
